In today's presentation I am showing you how a repeating unit of one small black triangle and negative space could create very strong rhythmic patterns. The picture on the right is just one realisation of the millions of possibilities. As one can see the possibilities are just limitless. The Tamil Kolam Tradition is, in contrast, based on mathematical number progressions and Geometrical Symmetries, Periodicity, Repetition and Rhythm. A limitation can be derived from the parameters chosen.
At this point I would like to thank Martin Conrad for our discussion on the architectonical implications: reacting to a given space would produce a pattern that is unique to that space.
I am looking forward to this line of exploration very much and for spaces that lend themselves to this exploration.
With this post, I am signing off for a summer break of about three weeks. Have a great summer.
Much light!
