Much light!
Starting with the sketch of a pepper stalk, I made a series of sketches on beer coasters. The idea was to create rhythm with repeating patterns and shapes. Observed as stand alone entities the beer coasters do not convey the sense of a narrative, but somehow are related to each other. The eye seeks this narrative... Much light!

Hi everybody! This week's post goes back in time and a bit away from last week's euphory, and is inspired by the Austrian "Jugendstil" era. I was in Vienna during my Easter break and got to know Vienna from its best side: Art. Vienna is an art lover's paradise. I had to put ink on paper and do not regret deviating from my usual "non-objective art" posts: I used this sketch I am posting today, to develop a series; which I will show you over the next weeks. Much light and thank you for your interest! Today's post is a repeat! I am posting it again today, to mark the completion of a cycle of learning, execution and abstraction. Starting with this sketch, I made and developed at least three series of works that I presented last week to mark the completion of my course of study at the Akademie für Malerei in Berlin. Several of those works have found new homes now and I am thrilled to be able to observe this cycle of ideas to reality. I am immensely grateful to the Almighty, and to all my teachers and supporters. In my talk I had stressed upon the role of the art lover and the fact that art lovers are the most important players in this scene, next to the artist, and my appeal was heard. Thank you all for your good wishes! Much light! |
