... and I am taking full advantage of it and taking a break. I will be sketching and painting as usual, visiting more Museums and other artists and generally taking a break. Taking breaks in one's schedule is important. It helps growth. Wishing all of you a great summer too. Take care and count your blessings!

Count your blessings...

I can never say this enough. Our thoughts create our reality. Expressing our gratitude for all the goodness in our lives, creates room for more. Being in the "Thank-you-mode" also helps us see any difficulties we may have in a positive manner and contributes to our well being even in troubled times. So here is to counting...

Tough times don't last...

... tough people do.
Clicking through my files on the computer I found this sketch from last year. I did this during a visit to Chennai, India. This documents the pain, the tough times and the still tougher people. I dedicate this to all people going through a rough patch, taking that tiny little step, one step at a time. Before long the journey is done. Life is about the journeys and not always the destinations. Take care and much light!

If stones could speak, ...

... what would they tell us?
I was with my son at a near by children's play area recently. The soft sand at my feet felt warm. The logs and boulders strategically placed to mark the boundaries between the different play areas seemed quite out of place. We take our surroundings in our "modern" lives so much for granted and have lost that personal sense of belonging in the natural order of things.

I am an artist. I live and work in Berlin.
I started to paint colour fields (very much inspired by Mark Rothko and other American Abstract Expressionists) and now have evolved into an admirer of the Bauhaus Movement. I am still  a seeker: minimalist concrete art finds resonance in me, while the rich colours and traditional art forms of my home country that flow in me and breathe in me, also find expression in my work.
My work, I believe is a synthesis of all these influences and seeming contradictions. I am now knocking a dent into concrete art, non objectively so to speak! I work serially and can endlessly look for emerging patterns in my work.
This has been a wonderful journey, and as they say: the path is the destination.
In my blog posts, I am letting you have a peek over my shoulder, into my sketch books and small works, which will someday flow into my big canvases and other works; works that I will actually display or exhibit (or may be not).
My blog posts are more about my process and what motivates me to paint and create.
