The artist uses this human nature to make an imprint in the viewers mind.
I am captivated by the simplicity of how our minds can be manipulated and how manipulative our minds are. I am still seeking answers to what is beyond.
Much light!
Today I would like to present to you a bit of the process involved in my work: Here I am investigating lines; repetitive lines and how they develop into a narrative (if lines can be that). Starting from simple parallel lines sketched on paper, I went on to do a simple linoleum cut to investigate how a modular conglomerate of repetitive lines can form a narrative. Starting from the print I present here, I went on to make a series of work that seek that connecting causality that most of us are used to. The artist uses this human nature to make an imprint in the viewers mind. I am captivated by the simplicity of how our minds can be manipulated and how manipulative our minds are. I am still seeking answers to what is beyond. Much light!

Today I would like to present my experiments with repeating lines and spaces: a conceptual experiment on the lines of Peter Dreher. Peter Dreher painted water glasses over many decades. Always the same format and always the same motive with slight variations. In an attempt to streamline my concept, I shall be painting lines and spaces. I made a start with the small tile above. As always, much light! Addressing the topic of self portrayal, I post another "selfie" today. I did this one after George Condo: A distorted mask-like 3 dimensional drawing, with gaping holes where the eyes are supposed to be. Psychoanalysis would probably say it is a sub-conscious effort not "to see" the reality around me. But I have decided to keep the faith: after all, all of us are "energy beings" connected to each other at a very fundamental level. Much light! This week I present another sketch I did of the rhododendrons in front of my atelier about two years ago. This year they are on time, again a reminder that life happens in cycles: if only we could remember this important fact during times of loss and tribulation; if only we could let go of loss and live life fully. Much light! |
