Non Objective Art XII

In continuation of my post last week, I present to you, one more work from this Series (Pastel on Paper 12 x 12 cm). These works are exhibited in Galerie Root, Berlin and cost 100€ each.
I like the subtleties in these works and can look forever at the ethereal nature of the fields and lines with that hint of colour threatening to divide, yet holding the whole in a single entity.

Non Objective Art XI

This week I am presenting to you two works from a Series I did for the exhibition in support of local businesses in Galerie Root, Berlin. Each work in this exhibition costs 100€. The Vernissage will be via Zoom on Thursday, 18.6.

Non Objective Art X

This week I present to you two sketches that derive from my studies with angles.
Coincidentally, I came across a Corona Discounted Course on Architectural Drawings with water colour and realised that my paintings and work have an architectonical flavour to them too.
This I attribute to our "biological seeing": Our seeing and perceiving space has a very spherical geometry to it. We naturally perceive perspectives and "recognise buildings" for their unique projections and proportions.
In non objective art, as in concrete art, there have been many architects who have played an important role in the propagating the ideas: notably Theo van Doesburg, Le Corbusier, Walter Gropius and many others from the Bauhaus movement.

Aruna Samivelu

I am an artist. I live and work in Berlin.
I started to paint colour fields (very much inspired by Mark Rothko and other American Abstract Expressionists) and now have evolved into an admirer of the Bauhaus Movement. I am still a seeker: minimalist concrete art finds resonance in me, while the rich colours and traditional art forms of my home country that flow in me and breathe in me, also find expression in my work.
My work, I believe is a synthesis of all these influences and seeming contradictions. I am now knocking a dent into concrete art, non objectively so to speak! I work serially and can endlessly look for emerging patterns in my work.
This has been a wonderful journey, and as they say: the path is the destination.
In my blog posts, I am letting you have a peek over my shoulder, into my sketch books and small works, which will someday flow into my big canvases and other works; works that I will actually display or exhibit (or may be not).
My blog posts are more about my process and what motivates me to paint and create.
