Life is a gift to us...

... let us enjoy every moment that we have.
I found this dead stump on the meadow where we laid down to spend a warm lazy afternoon in Berlin a few weeks ago. While it was obvious that the tree had been felled and it would never grow back, it was amazing how the stump left behind was host to a myriad of other life forms. There were grass blades growing out of it, many insects, numerous seeds waiting for rain, for more saplings to grow out of them.
So I am learning to keep calm, when things just seem to stagnate and are not going the way I expected them to.

Let it go...

These two rose petals document the beautiful, but fleeting moments of summer this year. Living in Germany means for me that I have to get used to the cycles of the seasons and to let go of the need for warmth and sunshine. Its like having to get used to what life has to offer us: clinging to momentary pleasures just means, we will make ourselves more unhappy. We have to learn to enjoy every moment while it lasts and then let it go. Make place for the next moment, it could turn out to be just as exciting!

The undergrowth...

... very often robs us of precious nutrients to have a healthy balanced portion of everything: a balanced life, a balanced outlook. Clearing away all that fuzz means one can be focused, receive optimal input so that our output is balanced. SO here is getting a rake and clearing that undergrowth. Let the Word fall on good fertile soil and take root.

Summer approaching...

It has been warm in Berlin and with all of Berlin's vegetation in full colourful glory, its hard not to think of this cycle in the seasons, heralding growth. After winter's slumber, the spring reminds us that the period of quiet renewal is now over and it is time to sow. Summer then follows and with comes the period of nurture and growth. Here is wishing all of us the strength and ability to grow into our very best.

Beneath the shadows...

I love this work with its vast spaces and stark contrasts. This is the first time I used a huge Chinese brush for ink made of Goat hairs. Simply love the feel of it, the heavy lines with character and the light thin airy lines.

I am an abstract artist living and working in Berlin.
In my blog posts, I am letting you have a peek over my shoulder, into my sketch books and small works, which will someday flow into my big canvases and other works; works that I will actually display or exhibit.
My blog posts are more about my process and what motivates me to paint and create.
