Gratitude and the consciousness of having breeds more. So here is to happy counting. Much love and light.
I have many reasons to be thankful for today. The most important one being, that I am alive and breathing. I have LIFE in me. I had the energy to complete one year of my blog. I also achieved another private milestone and am immensely happy and thankful for it.

... is a teacher.
I did this sketch of Klimt's nude this summer. I was in this little art shop selling books on famous (and not so famous) artists and chanced on Klimt's biography and works. Klimt did many sketches of nudes. The last one I posted was male and was very expressionistic in its conveyance of this sense of helplessness and vulnerability. Then I chanced on this female nude and had to do it, because this conveys and exudes to me this sense of self confidence and a successful hold on oneself even in the most jarring moment of baring oneself in all one's intimacy and vulnerability: the subject is, to me, daring and challenging the viewer to look past her vulnerable situation and try and fathom her inner being. In our own moments of vulnerability I pray that we learn this art of mastering the lessons that vulnerability teaches us. ... what we sowed.
Here in Berlin, the days are getting shorter, the wind colder and stronger. Leaves are turning red, yellow and there is a nip in the air. It's fall! It's the natural cycle of the seasons and most agriculture based individuals and wineries are most probably harvesting or looking forward to it. So I hope all of us made hay while the sun shone brightly on us. In the days of darkness that now follow, may all of us have abundant supplies till the light returns. Winter and the time to rest and recuperate follow. The natural cycle allows time for this state of rest. May we also allow ourselves this precious time and be fit both mentally and physically to start the cycle all over again. Much love and light. I am fascinated by the way artists have depicted the human body over the past millennia. To me the most attractive depiction is the true vulnerability of the human race. What saddens me is the gay abandon with which we treat our fellow human beings and the myriad of life forms on our planet, particularly in the last two hundred years. To me this nude done by Klimt conveys not only our vulnerability but also the sadness and helplessness.
