In this week's post, I would like to show you my exercise on squared paper with water colour and ink. Here I am playing with repeating units of the circle and semi circle. I have used variation in size and colour contrast, as also negative spaces.
Vasarely used such colour fields to convey his sense of an inner geometry in nature and became known for his founding role in Op-Art. His art evokes in the viewer the movement of the shapes he created using lines and colour fields.
My intention is more mundane: I am using geometric shapes to create an interplay of colours by repeating the shapes and leaving negative spaces. My exercise is purely non objective.
