As I continue to experiment with my sketches, this time with angles of 30, 60 and 90 degrees, a text that I am reading at the moment came to mind, and I have to translate it from the German ("Reise ins Land der vierten Dimension" Gaston de Pawlowski translated by Maximillian Gilleßen; the original is French):
"I found out that, the shadows of a three dimensional object constitute a two dimensional shape - just like how the sun produces two dimensional projections on the earth - and came to the conclusion that the Fourth Dimension could project an object with three dimensions, i.e., that all three-dimensional objects that we so simply observe, are projections of a Fourth Dimension unknown to us".
Our brains are so structured and wired, that by the time we realise that we have observed something, the brain has already processed that information into a narrative, a shape we recognise, a story that we are emotional about. This happens so fast, that the truth of the moment has already passed us by in a flash into the depths of the past.
I realise, however, that I am attempting to put down in words that which refuses to be expressed neither in words, nor in art.
The truth of the moment and that unknown Fourth Dimension is all pervading; the inability of our senses to perceive it, make it transient.
Much light!
