Much light!
This week's post is the development of an idea from my sketch book. The motif is something that I posted in January of 2016: Flying Geese. This is approximately 30 x 30 cm thread work on jute. I am working on my sketchbook concepts on and with different media and am truly excited about the very minimalistic palette and its strong statement. Much light! I look at my blog posts from time to time and discover coherence that I sometimes miss when working everyday. In January of 2016 I had posted about a formation of geese that chanced to fly above my head. On looking at it once again I was quite surprised about seeing my repeating triangles. This pattern is quite common in the art of quilting I have now discovered. So this week's post is another page from my sketch book to celebrate this serendipity. Much light! This week I present to you a sketch (ink on recycled paper approx. 10 x 18 cms) I did in the Summer of 2016. On the right is a thread work I did on jute (30 x 30 cms). I am actually happy with this interpretation and am ready to explore this direction with my repeating triangles. See you in week's time after a small Winter Break! Much light! This weeks post is again based on a sketch from my sketch book. While on a visit to the Bauhaus in Dessau, I happened to look at some folding exercises exhibited there. An interesting coincidence was that the flower pot on my cafeteria table had a folding pattern too. In my work, I am interested in the angles and spatial orientation that are innate to every growth process in nature. I have adapted my repeating triangles just that little bit in the sketches that I am showing you this week. Much light! I am back to my sketch book and my repeating triangles. I decided to add some colour to my sketches. Am still monochromatic here and have decided to experiment with more colour and also make some digital sketches. Much light and a great start into the New Year! |
