20180501: Charcoal and pastels on veneer
Risking an almost repeat post from "The Ode to the Unknown", I post today a work I did on a wood veneer panel of 30 x 30 cm. I am still exploring angles (this time 30, 45, 60 and 90 degrees) and colour fields in muted colour. I have used charcoal and pastel pigments.
I am reminded again of the text by Gaston de Pawlowski in his book "Reise ins Land der vierten Dimension" and his analogy of the two dimensional shadows of three dimensional shapes, and his allusion to three dimensional bodies being the "shadows" of an unknown entity of four dimensions: "all three-dimensional objects that we so simply observe, are projections of a Fourth Dimension unknown to us" (translation by Maximilian Gilleßen from the French).
