These bright red (and other shades of colours) plants herald the festive season here in Berlin and bring colour into otherwise grey climes.
In order that they are so brightly coloured, the plants have to be kept in the dark and be sun starved (light deprivation) so that they receive the signal to make these bright reds. So the beautiful plants we actually see and buy are indeed stressed beings.
Many a time those beautiful smiles and gracious demeanours are actually a result of stress and hardship. The Mexicans of course have another legend (read it here) about the Poinsettias!
Here my water colour Poinsettias (with my own new colours).
Much light!
